Splash - Water Drop Kit

Product arrived quickly, tried it out on two storms so far and it did capture lightning, although we didn't have any good strikes, mostly sheet lightning. Looking forward to some big strikes this summer.

I used it for taking successive images of the Northern Lights in Norway. Truly impressed

Works as advertised.

The kit arrived fairly quickly which was awesome. Had a bit of problem upgrading the firmware but the support was quick to respond so that was good. The new version of the MIOPS app on my Android does not seem to hold the settings and the way to save the settings for a particular scenario setup is not what I was expecting. Perhaps I have not read the user guide sufficiently. I expected a simple SAVE function that one could click on to save my entire configuration but don't seem to be able to find it as it goes back to the default. The new version of the kit is definitely more controllable.

Product arrived within the estimated time. Pitty enough i didn't have the chance so far to test it as the only times there was lightning, i was working. I will post another review when i got the chance to test it.

After using the MIOPS Smart+ for lightning, I decided to venture to a stand alone lightning trigger. As the Smart+ was a pretty decent unit with multiple applications, I decided to stay with MIOPS and picked up the Flex Bolt.
Well, we've only had a few thunderstorms since it showed up, and only one real chance to use it. The storm was mainly sheet lightning from what I could see but it was throwing down bolts close by (lots of trees around the house, not many fields of view to safely set up the Flex Bolt). So I choose a relatively clear path, and let the Flex Bolt do its work on an early morning system rolling through. I didn't catch any of the bolts being thrown down, but it did catch every sheet that flashed, and even managed to capture the orange flash from a Bolt just out of view. Sheet of lightning for triggered frame taken, the Flex Bolt caught 100% of the flashes that filled the air (light ones to bright blinding ones).
It's a real easy to use system, and with being a sole lightning trigger, that goes a long way with me. Quick adjustments to sensitivity can be made in less than 2 seconds and is back ready for the next strike.
The short range forecast isn't looking good for lightning, and as we're nearing the end of storm season here things are bleak for use. But I'm definitely looking forward to a chase where I can put the Flex Bolt through its paces.

This is actually my 2nd unit I wanted a backup for different types of liquids. The learning curve is nothing you see online. It's the mixture of different liquids in unit & base, temperature, height of drops, depth of drops. But once you figure out what you are looking for, it's so easy and addictive. The results are practically unlimited to your imagination. 1 great camera. 2-3 flashes, remote trigger, different backgrounds, tripods, flash gels, food coloring. Don't forget pen and paper to record your mixtures and settings. Single drops, crashes, crashes in bubble. The rest is pure enjoyment.

Nothing but positives. Ordering the Smart+ online was easy and straightforward. Item arrived securely packaged and well ahead of schedule. Trigger nicely designed and well assembled. No problem connecting device to my iPhone or to camera / flash. Have yet to try the lightning feature but all the other modes work like a charm. Phone interface easy to navigate. Purchase price reasonable for everything the Smart+ is capable of doing. Very happy with my buying decision.
